Our solution addresses the challenges faced by the energy industry, enhancing operational efficiency, security, and sustainability. It supports operational and strategic objectives, positioning organizations for long-term success and growth.

Operational Technology Ifrastructure

  • Deep insight into ICS networks providing visibility and monitoring of the individual devices in the ICS environment
  • Architects and engineers build network infrastructure that are resistant and resilient against cyber threats
Discovery and Planning
Security Landscape
Cybersecurity Measures
  • Establish robust cybersecurity protocols to safeguard critical infrastructure.
  • Provide ongoing threat detection and response services.

Renewable Energy Integration
  • Protect the network by implementing robust firewalls and intrusion detection systems to block unauthorized access and identify suspicious activity.
  • Dividing the network into segments to limit lateral movement by cyber attackers.
Benefits
  • Improved Reliability - Reduced equipment downtime and enhanced control lead to improved operational reliability.
  • Enhanced Efficiency - Operational technology integration and predictive maintenance streamline energy production and distribution.
  • Sustainability - Integration of renewable energy sources promotes sustainability and reduces carbon footprint.
  • Cost Savings - Predictive maintenance reduces unplanned downtime, leading to significant cost savings.
  • Early Threat Detection - The ability to identify malicious scans and block them proactively helps prevent potential security breaches, reducing the potential impact of cyber threats.

Gap Analysis
  • Start with where you want to be, or where you think you are
  • Analyze current designs and documentation
  • Summarize the difference between where you are and where you want to be

A Gap Analysis can be as simple as reviewing designs for a future migration and comparing what a team has developed to what the company's leadership expects to get. An example of this was a large chain of hospitals that we worked with. The network engineering team had told the CIO they had designs for the new data centers they were planning to migrate to.

The CIO had not seen any documentation so he requested we perform a Gap Analysis between what he expected to get from the last four years of design work and what the team had documented. It turned out that the team could only send a picture of a whiteboard drawing of the network they planned on implementing and a very high level outline of what they planned on doing. We provided an initial diagram of the network and sent it to the network engineering team along with a rough draft of the Gap Analysis. They added further details to their design and we updated our documentation. This continued for approximately 5 weeks and a final draft was provided to the client. The final draft exposed the risk that the network team was putting all their trust in a device that was only provided by a single manufacturer at the time and this single point of failure could lead to a risk for the hospital. A solid design should be able to function independent of any particular manufacturer.

Technical Solutions Document
  • Outlines all systems used in the operation of a business, from cloud applications to servers in a data center
  • Provides technical staff a way to see the business impact of a particular system
  • Provides non-technical staff a way to understand how complex a system is when they want to make changes or when there is an outage
  • Provides support team a central repository for all information related to a system including key stakeholders, 3rd party support, and all dependencies that could be impacted
Technical Solutions Document

Most companies say they have documentation, but when you review their documentation, you see that it is out of date and lacks sufficient detail for a new team member to be able to provide support to your users. Supporting most systems in an organization requires “tribal knowledge” and when a key team member leaves, their knowledge leaves with them. A Technical Solutions Document provides enough detail that a competent technician can read the document and use it to make all necessary contacts alerting the appropriate team(s) of an outage, follow the data flow to find out where the problem is in a system, and engage the appropriate team(s) to resolve the issue. If there is turnover on a team, the knowledge to support the systems is not lost and provides better reliability and stability for the company.

Network Redesign and Deployment
  • The information provided in the Gap Analysis and the Technical Solutions Document can be used to design a network that is customized to how your company uses your infrastructure
  • Custom network designs take into account how you use your network, the regulations governing your cyber security, and the best technology to provide a secure and stable solution
  • A highly trained team can perform migrations quickly and efficiently, allowing your existing team to focus on providing the best support to your users and maintain your company’s existing environment

Most technical teams are stretched thin. They focus 100% of their efforts on supporting your users and taking them off their current assignment to upgrade a network can be detrimental to supporting your company. With our Network Redesign and Deployment service, we do the heavy lifting. We review the Gap Analysis and Technical Solutions Documentation and develop a High Level Design Document that is presented to your leadership and regulatory teams. Once you approve of the high level designs, we get in the weeds and create a custom solution using products from leaders in the networking space to provide a secure and stable network. After you approve the final design, we support your team by deploying the new equipment and training your team on how to manage it so they can provide ongoing maintenance of your environment.

NOC Services
Ongoing Maintenance
  • For teams that need staff augmentation or for companies who choose to outsource management of their network
  • Centralized Management and ongoing support backed by experts in the industry

When Method builds your network, we can provide continued support to either augment existing teams or centralize management in our NOC. We provide proactive monitoring of all network equipment and can expand the monitoring to other systems in your environment. We can also provide access to our monitoring solution for your teams to monitor servers and other devices from a single pane of glass.
